Chicken Fried Wontons

For those home chefs that like going the extra mile, this recipe is for you. It will tickle your fancy for working with your hands, wrapping each little wonton manually - skip the brush! After the tedious wrapping comes gratifying, quick cooking, and before you know it- your dumplings will be devoured.

Chicken Fried Wontons
Ingredients for chicken wontons:
Ground chicken - 11 oz.
Green onion - 1 (chopped)
Leeks - 3 tbsp. (finely chopped)
Salt - 1 tsp.
White pepper - 1 tsp.
Fresh ginger - 1 inch piece (grated)
Garlic - 1 clove (minced)
Sesame oil - 1 tsp.
Egg - 1 (separated)
Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp.
Water - 1/4 cup
Method of preparing the chicken wontons:
  1. In a bowl, combine the ground chicken, green onion, leek, salt, pepper, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and egg white.
  2. Fill each wonton wrapper with a small spoonful of the filling. Seal it with egg wash, and press out any air bubbles.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan covered with a lid. Fry the dumplings until golden and crispy - about 40 seconds.
  4. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the pan to create steam. Cook the wontons for 3 minutes and serve straight away.
