The standards for cars are shifting in front of our eyes. That is natural, as any human invention is bound to evolve, but what’s interesting is that one of the most ‘basic’ features of cars is slowly disappearing - the stick. In 2006, 47% of the 305 car models sold in the US offered standard or optional manual transmissions. One decade later, only 27% of new car models offered manuals. By 2020, the number was just 13%.
