How Our Pain Mechanism Works

Pain is a nerve reaction to bodily harm. You get scratched, stung, cut or suffer a blunt blow- you feel pain. It’s that simple. Except when it isn’t. Sometimes, we feel pain simply because we EXPECT to feel pain, in which case our ache is very clearly not caused by negative physical stimulation. That’s because pain isn’t merely a side-effect of harm, it’s a complex warning mechanism with various different triggers.
