Built in 1593 in northern Italy, Palmanova is famous for its concentric citadel structure, called a star fort. It was designed by the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi in hopes of achieving social harmony and well-being for it's people through the beauty and symmetrical perfection of the city. Today the city is home to about 5,000 people and a very popular tourist site, but in order to really appreciate this wonder you have to see it from above. This is one city I would really love to see with my own eyes. |
