The Himalayas are quite possibly among the most famous mountain ranges in the world and are home to many of the tallest peaks. The name of this range was derived from the Sanskrit words Hima and A-laya, which translate in English to “the Abode of the Snow”. The Himalayan mountain range is located between the Indian subcontinent and the Tibetan plateaus. It is spread across China, Pakistan, India, Nepal, and Bhutan, ranging approximately 1.500 miles from end to end, and containing over 50 of the tallest mountains in the world, measuring over 23.000 feet. Across these mountainous planes, over 52.7 million people reside, as well as numerous monasteries, temples and other structures of culture, worship, and pilgrimage. These 25 picturesque images will take you to the very top of the highest mountains and the scenic landscapes they overlook.
