1. Gardening
You may enjoy it in general and never thought of it as exercise, but digging, pruning, planting, and all the movements required by the body make it work in a very healthy way. Even half an hour of gardening can be considered exercise, and it can also improve your mood, so enjoy it and know that it benefits not only your garden and your mind, but also your body.
2. Doing Chores
It's not the most fun thing to do, but at least it won't make you feel like you're wasting your time, and you'll also get a good result that will improve your mood right after you finish the activity. You probably clean your house regularly, but think of other tasks you have to do that you haven't done in a long time, such as cleaning the windows, washing the car, cleaning the gutters, or painting the walls of the house. Create a routine where you do these regularly as well, whether it's once a month, every six months, or every year, and that way you'll make sure to get your body moving more over time.
3. Video Games
If your kids have a Nintendo Switch console, you may have already seen them playing in the living room. They use their whole body to play, and that's because the console's controller allows you to control games with movements, and you'd be surprised to find that there are games there that even you will enjoy moving your body to. Search the game store for Nintendo Switch Sports, for example, where you can play tennis, badminton, bowling, volleyball, basketball, and soccer. If you prefer to dance, you can purchase the game Just Dance, where you will learn choreography to hundreds of songs in a variety of difficulty levels. If that's not your thing, you can also use VR headsets to work out, and they have some terrific sports games you can play with. That said, most VR sets are still a bit heavy and hot, so only buy one after trying it for at least 10 minutes doing something, it can get real sweaty real fast.
4. Dancing
Speaking of dancing, of course, you can also do it without video games, and alone or with other people. It's actually an aerobic activity that strengthens the heart and lungs, as well as lifts the spirits, especially if it's to the sound of music you love. Sign up for a dance group of the kind that appeals to you most and start moving your body - it will only do you and your mind and body good.
5. Team Sports
A dance group is a great option, but it's not the only group that can help you get your body moving. Depending on your interests, you can join a soccer, basketball, or any other sport you love, and if you can't find such a group, you can create one yourself with the help of your friends, family, or colleagues. I'm sure there are other people like you who would love to go back to playing like they used to, so take the initiative and go out to the field with a ball!
6. Walking
Many people simply choose walking workouts, which don't require too much planning and effort from them but are considered very effective, even if they are done at a slow and measured pace. If you find it difficult to get yourself out of the house alone for such a walk, find a friend to walk with you, or adopt a dog that will force you to go for a walk twice a day. You can also choose to walk to a store that is relatively close to your home instead of driving there, or simply park further away in the mall than right next to the store you are going to. Anything that has you walking a little more will help.
7. Martial Arts
Karate, judo, taekwondo, all of these can help you get your body moving and even learn to defend yourself and sharpen your mind and concentration. You can sign up for a class that teaches martial arts, and you don't have to worry about "fighting," because that's not really what they do there. Professional instructors will teach you how to engage in sports activities in a safe and enjoyable way that will only do good for your body and mind.
8. Swimming
This may be one of the most enjoyable and recommended activities for those who want to stay in shape because it strengthens the bones, contributes to heart health, burns calories, and activates muscles that we tend to neglect. You can sign up for a country club or a gym that has a swimming pool, and on hot summer days you will even look forward to this activity, because it allows you to have your cake and eat it too - to exercise without sweating, and even cool off in cool and pleasant water.
9. Intercourse
One roll in the hay is equivalent to a light workout, like brisk walking, for example, and it can burn about 100 calories from your body. There is even scientific evidence that activities like sex help prevent heart disease, and that makes sense because during lovemaking the body really exerts itself and works just like during physical activity. So here's another reason to get into bed with the person you love and help each other stay healthy and happy.
