While not completely useless, because they often contain components like retinol, which don't work well in the daytime due to the influence of the sun's rays. But, dermatologists say that the cost of special night creams is highly overpriced, and if you take proper care of your skin throughout the day, they're not needed.
2. Female shaving creams and foams
Both female and male shaving items are almost identical - they soften the hair and moisturize the skin to make shaving smoother. The only difference is the odor and the design of the packaging. So, if fragrance is not important to you, there is no need to buy special female shaving items, especially when men's costs less. You could also use a moisturizing shower gel or hair conditioner to soften your hair as well.
Blackheads appear because of the accumulation of bacteria and excess skin secretions at the base of the hair follicle on the skin. While you may think that pore strips help, they are only removing surface dirt and are traumatizing the skin by stripping away its protective layer. The strips don't get rid of the acne, so it is better to buy a good cleansing gel with salicylic acid instead. This way you don't damage the skin and you are still cleaning the dirt. Here's a tip: Use hot water to open the pores, clean with the gel, then use cold water to close the pores again to get the most out of the cleaning gel.
4. Neck cream
The skin around the neck is very thin and delicate and needs regular moisturizing. That said, you don't need a special cream for it. Rather, a regular cream for the face will be enough. For best results, be sure to apply it with smooth movements from the bottom up.
Adverts suggest that face sprays help the facial skin stay moisturized during the day, giving your face a feeling of freshness. But, according to dermatologists, the moisture from the skin evaporates together with the water in the spray, leading to dryness. Sprays with moisturizing components don't give such an effect. In addition, the high price of such sprays makes it a useless purchase.
6. Matte wipes
These wipes are nothing more than a thin piece of paper that absorbs the excess sebum on the skin. Regular tissues or towels have the same effect, only the oily spots won't be as visible on them, allowing you to see the areas that get the dirtiest.
These hairsprays prevent the evaporation of excess moisture which is present because of high temperatures. The protective layer comes about due to the silicone. This is present in the composition of many hair products, including styling sprays and caring oil. This is why there is no need to buy special thermal protecting items.
8. Sunscreens with SPF 50+
While it may seem that SPF 100 protects 3 times better than SPF 30, there is not much difference between them. The first item misses 1% of UVB rays, while the second one misses 3%. Furthermore, a sunscreen with a higher SPF gives a false sense of complete protection - meaning that you may spend more time in the sun than needed. The best choice would be a sunscreen with an SPF anywhere from 15 to 50.
