A magnificent spectacle in the night sky awaited observers from different corners of the Earth late at night on January 20, 2019. The lucky viewers witnessed a rare lunar eclipse that lasted for 3 hours, which manifested itself in the form of an enormous blood-red moon.
Dubbed with the sinister name blood wolf moon by the media and social outlets this phenomenon was actually a combination of 2 astronomical events. The first is the so-called wolf moon or super moon, during which every January the moon is the closest to the Earth and appears larger. The second event is a total eclipse of the moon, during which the Earth and the moon line up so that the Earth casts a shadow on the moon, coloring it into a deep red hue.
We invite you to admire this astounding natural phenomenon in its full glory from all the different corners of the Earth: New York, Norway, Germany, Hawaii and many more... This collection of photographs is truly awe-inspiring and impossible to skip.
