There is a creature which could double its size every day. So, if the creature is put in a tank then it will fill the tank in 10 days.
How many days would it take for the creature to fill a half and how many days to fill a quarter of the tank?
A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $10, but if I cannot, I will pay you $10." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $10. How did the man win the bet?
Riddle me, riddle me, rin-ะต-go, mother gave me some seeds to sow. The seeds were black, the ground was white. If you riddle me that, you'll escape my bite.
What are they?
A renowned chemist is found dead in his lab. There is no clear evidence except a piece of paper lying by the body. The paper is blank other than the name of five elements scrawled across it hastily:
Nickel
Carbon
Oxygen
Lanthanum
Sulfur
The guard reported that three people visited the chemist that day โ his sister, Laura; his colleague, Nicolas; and his wife, Tessa. The criminal was arrested immediately. Who was it?
I am the only thing that always tells the truth. I show off everything that I see. I come in all shapes and sizes. So tell me what I must be! What am I?
Only one color, but not one size, Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies. Present in sun, but not in rain, Doing no harm, and feeling no pain. What is it?
If you pile up coins one on top of another until they get as high as the Empire State Building - would you be able to fit them all into one average sized room?
(The 'Google Riddles' are interview questions those who wish to get hired were asked).
Yes, you could.
How do we know this? If the Empire State Building is about 100 levels tall, and each level is about an average room in height, that means we can divide the giant pile into 100 piles of one level each. Would 100 piles of coins fit in a room? Of course it will, with lots of room for more.
Dr. Miller was staying with his cousin, Alfred, in Alfredโs lakeside cabin. They were setting up Alfredโs will. Since Dr. Miller was Alfredโs closest living relative, much of Alfredโs estate was being left to him.
One day, Alfred went to Dr. Miller very upset.
โDoctor,โ he began, โI have just found out that an old enemy is out to get me. He is coming very soon. Where will I go? Where can I hide? If he finds me, he will surely kill me. I do not have time to leave this cabin and hide in the woods.โ
Dr. Miller thought for a moment, and then grabbed a 5โฒ long bamboo fishing pole, with a diameter the size of a quarter.
โAlfred, follow me out to the lake. This lake is 4โฒ deep. If you lie on the bottom of the lake and breathe through this pole, your enemy will never find you. I will be in the bulrushes with a shotgun, and I will shoot him when he comes. I will swim down to find you when he is gone.โ
Alfred thought that was a great idea and went down to the lake with the bamboo pole in his mouth.
A few hours later, a ranger passed by. He found Alfredโs body. Dr. Miller told the police of the circumstance, and that Alfred had probably panicked, and died.
Police arrested Dr. Miller on the charge of murdering Alfred. Why?
The pole was 5โฒ long, but only the size of a quarter. The first time he breathed in, he breathed oxygen. When he exhaled, the air could not travel 5โฒ before he breathed in again. He was just breathing what he exhaled. Before long, all he was breathing was carbon dioxide. He died of CO2 poisoning. Dr. Miller was the one who told him to use the pole. However, he was knowledgeable about the human body and knew breathing only carbon dioxide would result in Alfredโs death. His motive? The money in Alfredโs will.
