What are Devils on Horseback? They are an appetizer made of dried fruit stuffed with cheese or nuts and wrapped in bacon or prosciutto. This specific version of the fun snack is made with dates filled with goat cheese and wrapped in bacon, and it's absolutely delicious!
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Using a small knife, cut a small opening in the dates and remove the pit.
Stuff the dates with goat cheese. Press the sides of the date together to close it up.
Cut each bacon slice in half. Wrap each slice around a date and secure with a toothpick. Proceed to do the same with the rest of the dates.
Arrange the dates on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure that the dates don't touch. Bake the dates for 10 minutes, then remove the baking sheet from the oven.
Hold onto the toothpicks and turn each date on the side. Then return the dates into the oven and bake them for 5 more minutes.
Each date should be nice and browned on all sides. When ready, take out the dates from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
Remove the toothpicks and arrange the stuffed dates on a large plate or platter. Enjoy fresh!
