Chicken marsala is a classic Italian-American dish that goes together in just 30 minutes and works with any side dish you enjoy. The golden-brown chicken breasts are coated in a rich and creamy mushroom and wine sauce. In our eyes, it's tough to think of a better simple weekday dinner!
Ingredients for 30-Minute Chicken Marsala:
Method of preparing the 30-Minute Chicken Marsala:
-
On a work surface, trim off the fat of the chicken breasts and slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise.
-
Blot the chicken with paper towels, then season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
-
Pour some flour into a plate, then coat each chicken slice in the flour.
-
In a large frying pan, heat 1 tbsp of butter and all of the olive oil on medium-high. When the pan is hot but not smoking, sear the chicken until golden on both sides - about 5 minutes. Transfer the seared chicken to a plate and set it aside.
-
To the same frying pan, add the remaining butter. When it melts, spread out the mushrooms throughout the bottom of the frying pan. Sauté, stirring from time to time, for 5 minutes or until reduced and browned.
-
Add the minced garlic and marsala wine and cook for a couple of minutes.
-
Stirring continuously, drizzle in the heavy cream. Return the chicken to the frying pan and cook for 5 more minutes. When ready, the chicken will be cooked through and the sauce will thicken up.
-
Taste and season with more salt and pepper. Serve warm topped with fresh thyme with your side dish of choice.
