Celebrate the country's birthday just like you would any birthday with matching July 4th-themed cupcakes! These delicious cupcakes not only look attractive, but are easy to make and offer a patriotic theme. Amp up the effect by sticking a miniature flag in them.

Method of preparing the cupcakes:

Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a muffin tray with cupcake liners, set aside.

Whisk the cake mix, flour sugar and salt together in a large bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

Divide the batter into 3 equal parts. Dye one part red and another blue. Leave the third white.

Scoop the batter into your muffin tin in layers: first the red, then the white and finally the blue. When you're done, each liner should be filled 3/4 of the way.

Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes. You can do the toothpick test.

Cool in the tins for 5 minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Method of preparing the frosting:

Beat the butter with an electric mixer in a large mixing bowl, until it becomes smooth.

Gradually add 2 cups of the powdered sugar. Slowly add in the 1/3 cup of milk and vanilla. Add in the remaining powdered sugar.

Add 2-4 tbsp milk until the frosting becomes spreadable.

Using a piping tube with a star tip, swirl the frosting over the cupcakes.
Chef's Tip:
You can garnish with July 4th-themed sprinkles as shown in the picture.
