I always thought the microwave was an appliance for thawing frozen goods or warming up leftovers. Then I discovered microwave recipes! A twist on the traditional poached egg on toast, this microwave meal is the perfect way to start the day.
You can also simply break the egg into the mug, season with salt and pepper and let the bread cubes soak for a minute. Then microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until the egg is cooked. Call that an old-timey breakfast!

Boil the kettle.

In a small bowl, break the egg.

Toast the bread and spread thinly with butter.

Cut this into squares of 2 inches (5 cm).

Fill the cup with the boiling water, one-third full.

Add the vinegar and the egg.

With the tip of a sharp knife, prick the egg yolk.

Place the cup in the microwave for 30 seconds on high.

Remove the cup and gently turn the egg over.

Microwave for another 10 seconds.

Mix the egg and toast on a plate.
