Was The First Famous War Photo in History Staged?

“The Valley of the Shadow of Death” is the first famous war photo in history. It was captured by Roger Fenton in 1855 in the aftermath of the Crimean War. The photo depicts a barren landscape, in the midst of which we see a road littered with cannonballs. This remarkable photo became synonymous with the destruction caused by war, but historians and journalists have been questioning its genuineness for decades. Was this famous photo staged?
