The Nature Conservancy has unveiled the winners of its 2021 photo contest. Last year, the competition had to pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, it’s back this year and with a bang, showcasing some truly stunning images of nature from around the globe.
This year, the contest received more than 100,000 entries and the Grand Prize went to a photo of a western lowland gorilla walking through a cloud of butterflies in the Central African Republic. Other photos include a guide caught in the midst of a sand storm in the Sahara Desert, a magical shot of the Serra do Mar mountain range, and cheetahs trying to cross a river in Masai Mara, among several others.
These powerful photos capture the magic and mystery of our planet and remind us once again how gorgeous and awe-inspiring nature can be. Let’s now take a look at some of the best-winning images from this year’s Nature Conservancy Photo Contest.
