Walking Through the Stunning Quito Botanical Garden

The Quito Botanical Gardens (Jardín Botánico de Quito) in Ecuador are 200,000 square feet of floral beauty and contains a park, an arboretum, and a greenhouse in addition to the botanical garden. This stunning structure houses most of the plant species native to Ecuador. Both its herbarium and identification code with the Botanic Gardens Conservation International go by the name QUITO. This gargantuan garden is home to a variety of plants, including water-faring flora like cloud forests and Páramo plants, medicinal plants and those used for spiritual healing, and, of course, an orchid garden.

Plans are also underway to plant numerous native and introduced fruit trees, to be carried out as a collaborative effort with local schools, as well as for a hydroponic greenhouse of various roses and their hybrids. This powerhouse of plants is a collection of the finest natural beauty the Ecuadorian city of Quito has to offer. These pictures take you on a journey through its many scenic walking paths and the beautiful plants it shelters.
