Our world is inhabited by some of the most amazing and bizarre-looking animals. In the past, we have shown you some weird animals like the pink fairy armadillo or the bald uakari, but planet earth consists of such a wide array of strange and beautiful creatures that there are still countless birds, reptiles, fish, and mammals out there that you may not have even seen or heard of before.
Today, we will look at some more unusual creatures of our world. From the Madagascar leaf-tailed gecko to the Chestnut-bellied imperial pigeon, these strange and astonishing creatures show once again why nature is so wonderful.

1. The Blue Glaucus is also known as the sea swallow, blue angel, and dragon slug. It's a unique sea slug that floats upside down and accumulates toxic chemicals or stinging cells from other venomous creatures into its own skin. This amazing ability gives the blue slug a defense mechanism against predation.
2. The Showgirl Chicken combines the features of two of the weirdest-looking chicken breeds - Silkies and Turkens. They got their name because of their resemblance to Las Vegas performers.
3. The Madagascar leaf-tailed gecko was discovered only recently and is a master of camouflage. It is often found hiding amid tree leaves and is only about 4-inches-long.
4. The Peruphasma schultei is a stick insect that has a velvety matte black body, along with yellow eyes, red mouthparts, and marked white antennas. It is only found in the small territory of the Cordillera del Condor region in Peru.
5. The Black and rufous elephant shrew is a small mammal identified by its multi-colored pelage. Endemic to central and eastern Africa, these animals live in lowland forests and dense woodlands and feed on insects on the ground by using their nose.
6. The Ghost Mantis is an insect that looks like a beautiful yet brittle brown leaf. Its found in Madagascar and continental Africa and changes its color to green when the humidity increases.
7. The bizarre-looking treehopper is a bit like a mosquito as it has two interlocking, needlelike feeding tubes. However, they are known for the sharp, pointed spine on their back which looks like a thorn on a plant and helps them camouflage themselves against predators.
8. The beautiful and colorful Chestnut-bellied imperial pigeon is found mainly in New Guinea. It's a rare bird and its population is assumed to be pretty small.
9. Also known as the world’s biggest beetle, the Titan Beetle can grow to be about six and a half inches long and lives deep in tropical rain forests in South America. Despite their huge size, these insects aren't aggressive and only attack when threatened.
10. The red-nosed lanternfly is probably the cutest bug ever! Native to Burma, Thailand, and the Karen Hills of India, these critters use their long nose as a straw to drink tree sap.
11. The Silky Anteater is a nocturnal animal that is found in the forests of Southern Mexico, and Central and South America. It has no teeth but has a sticky tongue. This tiny anteater likes to stay on the treetops and very rarely comes down to the ground.
12. The Indian giant squirrel is a canopy dweller that builds a spherical nest with leaves and twigs to avoid being caught by leopards and birds of prey. It is known for its cream, maroon, and black color and dark bushy long tail.
13. African fat-tail geckos are cousins of the Leopard gecko and are native to West Africa. These reptiles require moderately high temperatures to survive and thrive.
14. The Panama King Vulture or simply the King Vulture is a large bird found in Central and South America. These amazing scavengers thrive in tropical lowland forests and can spend hours soaring through the air without flapping their wings while looking for dead animals to feed on.
15. The Ornate Ghostpipefish inhabit the Indian and western Pacific oceans. These weirdly shaped critters are remarkably hard to spot as they blend themselves incredibly well in coral reefs.
