12 Plants that Thrive all Summer Long

The heat from the summer months can be felt both inside and outside our homes. Unfortunately, we aren’t the only ones suffering from this irritatingly strong heat, the plants in our garden are also adversely affected and many of them do not survive the summer. There are many plants and flowers that are not adapted to extremely hot weather that is characteristic to the summer months and therefore they wither and die. But the 12 flowers and plants I’ve picked out for you below not only survive the summer, but they flourish in it. After reading this you’ll want to go to the nursery and pick out some plants to adorn your house and garden with!

1. Spurflowers - Plectranthus

This beautiful floral plant thrives during the summer and fall, and you can plant it comfortably without fearing it will wilt under the heat. Beyond the blossoming of its special violet, the spurflower spreads the citronella oil, which naturally repels mosquitoes, so you’ll benefit twice as much if you grow it in your home or garden.

2. Tiger cherry - Physalis peruviana

This unique plant, whose fruit is called the "cherry of the Jews", belongs to the plant family Solanaceae, and grows wonderfully under direct sun and partial shade. The flower that the plant grows, turns into a yellow fruit that grows in a thin sac, and its special taste will make it a favorite of the house.

9. Zinnia - Chrysogonum peruvianum

The zinnia flowers, which are reminiscent of chrysanthemums, grow densely so that you can cover vast areas without effort. Today, there are a variety of species you can choose from, some of which were created as a result of the crossbreeding of several species, and all together make every garden a colorful celebration for the eyes.

10. Golden tickseed - Coreopsis tinctoria

The special growth of Coreopsis is particularly rapid and has a grassy appearance, so it is recommended to fence it in its own area so that it will not take over the area of other saplings.

12. Temple tree - Plumeria Rubra

The last plant on the list not only survives in summer but thrives in it and not in other seasons. The plumeria grows in large, bushy shrubs, and its flowers smell intoxicating, turning the garden and yard of each house into an attraction.
