5 Miraculous Anti-Aging Secrets of World Cultures

Not every anti-aging solution needs to come out of a tube. Indeed, many cultures around the world have their own natural anti-aging secrets that have been passed down over generations. Here are five amazing and all-natural anti-aging remedies that work wonders!

Green and White Tea Mask

Teas are high in anti-aging antioxidants, or substances that protect your cells against the effects of free radicals. Antioxidant EGCC is high in these teas and its particular purpose is to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by increasing cell turnover. This remedy is common in China, where they mix green and white tea powders together with water to create a paste that can then be applied to the face.

Apply the mask to the skin and let it set for about 20 minutes before removing it with warm water. Note: Green and white tea powders can be bought in certain Asian specialty stores or in health foods stores in the tea aisle.

Ginger Honey Tea

It seems that tea is the way to go for anti-aging! In India, many start off their day with a cup of honey ginger tea, which happens to be loaded with the anti-aging benefits that keep them looking young. Ginger contains a powerful antioxidant called gingerol that is an anti-inflammatory and which can protect your skin against collagen breakdown, the very process that causes wrinkles.

To make the tea, boil some water and add fresh shredded ginger, a teaspoon of honey and mix together well. Make sure that the ginger is fresh, otherwise it may not have the desired youthful effect.

Sugar and Lemon Scrub

Our hands are one of the first places to age, but in Mexico, there is a solution. A scrub of lemon and sugar is created that, when rubbed on the hands daily, will return fullness and elasticity to your hands. Sugar crystals exfoliate the skin, pulling away the dull, dry and dead skin. The lemon juice in the mixture contains alpha hydroxyl acid, a common ingredient in many anti-aging treatments, which gives your skin a collagen boost. Exfoliation is especially important as you age because over time, the skin loses its ability to shed effectively, and exfoliation allows moisturizers to seep in.

To make the scrub, use a cup or two of granulated white or brown sugar, wet it slightly with water, and add the juice of 2-3 lemons. Adding in the lemon peel will give the mixture a nice fragrance.

Noni Juice

Noni juice is made from the Indian mulberry, a plant in the coffee bean family that is common in Southeast Asia, the Pacific and Australia. It's juice has been the secret anti-aging and natural cure of the Polynesians for centuries, and recently, consumers in the West have begun to take note of its amazing rejuvenating powers.

In Polynesia, the fruit is used as a moisturizer and in anti-aging remedies because it contains linoleic acid, an unsaturated omega-6 fatty acid that contains good oils for the skin. Some studies have shown that it is effective in softening the appearance of crow's feet, fine lines and wrinkles. While the Indian mulberry can be hard to find in some locations, noni juice is fast becoming a popular product on store shelves.

Grape Seed Extract

This is one remedy that you may of heard of due to its fame in recent years as the anti-aging miracle ingredient. Grape seeds are rich in a slew of vitamins and antioxidants that tighten and heal the skin naturally. Grape seed extract is known to protect the collagen and elastin in the skin, proteins that make your skin firm and smooth.

In France it is popular to take a grape seed extract supplement because you need to eat over a pound of grapes in order to get the same benefits. You can find grape seed extracts in health and whole foods stores. It is also recommended to purchase grape seed oil to rub on the skin daily for a fuller effect.
