13. High above Bhutan's Paro Valley, at a dizzying 10,240 feet (3,121 meters), lies Tiger's Nest Monastery. Originally constructed in the 17th century on an ancient site, this architectural marvel seems to defy gravity as it clings to the cliff face.
14. Sumela Monastery clings dramatically to a sheer cliff face, 3,900 feet (1,188 meters) above the Altındere Valley. This historic site dates back to around 386 AD, during the reign of Emperor Theodosius I.
15. The Golden Temple of Laojun Mountain stands tall on one of the Funiu Mountains' highest peaks, reaching 7,273 feet (2,217 meters). Its pavilion, adorned with a golden roof, crowns the mountaintop.
