15 Incredible and Fascinating Photos

Sometimes we come across special things you don’t see every day online, and we thought it was time to share some of the unique, rare, and beautiful things we’ve seen this year that we haven’t had a chance to share with you. Each of these images captures a rare moment or something you wouldn’t normally encounter, so take a few moments, go through the pictures, and discover sights and stories you won’t believe – especially the story behind number 13!
 
#1 Roman mosaic discovered in Turkey – This is one of the largest complete Roman mosaics found (1050 m²), with craftsmanship so high that the mosaic survived an earthquake, preserving the wave patterns it created.

#6 Nyakim Gatwech – a model from South Sudan who earned the nickname "Queen of Darkness" due to her deep dark skin, which results from high levels of melanin.

#7 A 3-year-old tadpole that never turned into a frog and simply grew as a tadpole, shown next to a banana for scale. Another comparison – tadpoles normally transform into frogs in about 14 weeks.

#8 A whole garlic that isn't divided into cloves. This is a type of garlic relatively common in Japan, known as "single-clove garlic." Less peeling, with a milder flavor.

#9 Door to the dining hall at Alcobaça Monastery in Portugal. It's narrow so monks who were too large to enter would start fasting. Maybe an idea to apply at home.

#10 A beekeeper saw bears stealing honey on his night cameras, so he turned them into quality testers by placing several bowls with different types of honey. The label probably says "tested on animals."

#13 In 2016, an Egyptian terrorist tried to hijack a plane. A British man asked to take a photo with him, and this is what happened, but that's not the whole story. Ben Innes, the guy in the photo, said he tried to get close to him to check if the bomb was real or not. Turns out it wasn’t.
