If there is something that kids and animals share other than their innocence, it is their uncanny ability to remove us from ourselves and the world around us. They make those worries seem silly, a grown-up thing we have invented for ourselves. They remind us of simpler things, simpler pleasures. Like running around with your dog on a Sunday afternoon. And this is why we always love to see them, and wish them nothing but good things.
