Some art is just pleasing to the eye, but it is often the conceptual art pieces, those that have a powerful message behind them that resonates with us the most. These meaningful artworks fill our hearts with emotions and make us contemplate reality from a new perspective. Lepidoptera, an art series by the established glass artist Laura Hart, is a prime example of art that is both elegant, delicate and meaningful, as the artist recreates the natural beauty of some of the rarest and most endangered butterfly species on the planet, of which there is sadly very many.
Moreover, the artist creates only one of each butterfly species to accentuate just how scarce the populations of these animals often are. As the artist writes on her website, "I create only one of each species or subspecies, their uniqueness and fragility accentuating the real threat of extinction these glorious creatures face due to human activity."
