It's safe to say that 70 years ago, the world was a much different place. In the 1950s women were still expected to stay home and rear the children, to cook and clean and to serve their husbands. The Civil Rights movement of the 1960s changed all of that, as well as the feminist rebellion, which encouraged women to get formal educations, enter the work place and to vote.
